Baroda District

During 22-4-2008 to 27-4-2008 Summer Course was organised at Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Vadodara for Balvikas students. Many students from all over Gujarat participated in the program. Sai Youth of Samithi coordinated and assisted in program activities. Following Activities were undertaken in the Summer Course.
  • Nagar Sankirtanam : During the course one of the important activity was Nagar Sankirtanam. All the participants were getting up early in the morning at 4.30 am and joining Nagarsankirtanam. Young participants were given chance to sing Bhajans. A good habit of getting up early in the morning and immersing in singing the Glory of the Lord was cultivated. Following the Nagarsankirtanam, the next daily activity was Ashtotar Archana i.e. Chanting of 108 names of the Lord on each offering of rice grains to the Lord.

  • Mock Parliament : A mock parliament debate was organized by Shri N. R Raje and Shri Prashant Lasure on the topic "Whether modern education taught today in schools and colleges impart human values?" The purpose of the session was to encourage the participants to express their views and shed their inhibitions in public speeches. Shri Raje insisted each participant to speak boldly on various issues. The students got motivated with the exercise.

  • Visit to Ajwa Nimeta (Vrundavan) Gardens: To break the monotony of lectures and indoor activities, the participants were taken on outdoor picnic on the fifth day to Ajwa and Nimeta well-known for its Musical fountains and lush green gardens. The participants were shown the vast Ajwa lake built by the erstwhile ruler of Baroda to provide drinking water to all Baroda citizens.

  • Visit to EME temple and Baroda Museum: On 22nd April, students were taken to the famous EME temple, Museum and picture gallery in Vadodara. The Museum is the unique one in the country giving comprehensive view of the Indian Cultural Heritage.

  • Visit to adopted village Rajupura and Vadodara Darshan: After the visit to EME temple and the Museum, participants were taken to adopted village Rajupura to appraise them about Gram Seva activities. New clothes were distributed to deserving students of Rajupura village who were studying in the first to seventh standard. All the participants and village children together sang Sai Bhajans. On 26th April children were taken on Vadodara Darshan.

  • Practical session on Seva: To help students understand the importance of Seva and experience the joy in helping the poor and the needy, a practical session on Seva was organized. The seva activity consisted of identifying poor people unable to afford even a pair of slippers & walking with bare feet in the hot summer sun and distributing a pair of slippers lovingly with the Sai name on lips. A select group of participants went round the city in the afternoon for an hour and distributed 72 pairs of slippers to needy people.

On 1st May to 6th May Eshwaramma week was celebrated and Sai Youth assisted the Bal Vikas Gurus in the celebration. Sports activity was conducted by the Sai Youth for Bal Vikas children.

On 20th April Blood Donation camp was conducted at Manjalpur unit by Sai Youth. 92 units of Blood were collected. On 11th April Blood Donation camp was conducted at Sukhlipura village by Sai Youth. 25 units of Blood were collected. On 30th June Blood Donation camp was conducted at Warashia by Sai Youth and 77 units of blood were collected.

On 1st Jun Sai Youth visited adopted village Rajupura and watered the plants along with villagers and also encouraged the School Children to water plants regularly.

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Circle (Traffic Island) was constructed by Manjalpur Unit. Sai Youth participated in the construction activity. Sai youth carried out work of rocks filling, sand filling, painting walls, grills, plantation of trees and many other important work during 17th March to 19th May. On 19th May Sri Sathya Sai Seva Circle (Traffic Island) was inaugurated by Police Commissioner Sh. Rajan Priyadarshi. Sh. Kanubhai Patel Sri Sathya Sai Trust Convener and Managing Trustee Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Rajkot and Sh. N. R. Raje State Coordinator Books & Publication and S. Satish Bokil, Zonal Convener (Central Zone) were remained present in the occasion.

On 6th January a State level Youth meeting was organised at Sri Sathya Sai Seva Mandir, Baroda to review the progress of Sri Sathya Sai Village Integrated Program (SSSVIP). The meeting was started with the chanting of 3 Aumkars and lighting of lamp by State President Sh. Manohar G. Trikannad. The State Sevadal Coordinator (Sevadal) Sh. Harikrishna Vaidya and Zonal Convener (Central Zone) Sh. Sathish Bokil were remained present.

The first session was started with the review of the progress of the SSSVIP project. All the District / Samithi Youth Conveners of all the districts presented the status of activities undertaken by the Sai Youth. Thereafter State Sevadal Coordinator (Past Balvikas Students) Sh. Hariharan undertook the session on Sri Sathya Sai Village Integrated Program (SSS VIP). He personally visited Puttaparthy and attended the session undertaken by All India President on SSSVIP. He explained the details of the SSSVIP briefly but very precisely.

At last State President Sh. Manohar G. Trikannad appreciated the progress of the Service activities undertaken by Sai Youth in the Gujarat. He shared various activities undertaken by Sai Youth of other states with examples. He also shared many viable projects for upliftment of standard of living of the people in villages. He requested to submit the survey reports of the adopted villages. He emphatically told that "Don't worry for the Expenses. Every thing is taken care of by Bhagwan Himself. Take it as a challenge and initiate the activities. Go ahead with full faith on Bhagwan." He also insisted to start the work with prayer and end the work with prayer to Bhagwan. 30 Sai Youth brothers and 20 Sai Youth sisters attended the program. Program finished with Aarti.
